After organizing the KiezWalk in Neukölln, KiezWalk in Kreuzberg and in KiezWalk Prenzlauer Berg, I released a BertaBerlin map covering Berlin Mitte, so I thought, why not design – in addition to my QueerBerlin Tour – an Architecture and Art Tour in Berlin Mitte also.

About me

A born and bred Berliner, I also studied art history and publish BertaBerlin maps. In my travel guides, I share Berlin walks and favourite places. I also blog about the city at www.walk-this-way.net. My research has taken me into many hidden corners of Berlin and I enjoy talking to the people I encounter. I’d love you to join me - maybe we’ll even discover more architecture and art together during our experience!

About the Architecture & Art Tour

Let us walk you through galleries and institutions in Berlin Mitte, which focus on architecture and art. We’ll meet in Mitte, an artsy districts famed for its galleries. One stop on our tour will be the monument Bear Swinger, where the heraldic animal of Berlin was accommodated. Today it is a venue for art exhibitions and talks. Here you can see art installation specifically designed for this location. Another the last obtained architectural monument of Berlin, which provides various site-specific formats of contemporary art that discuss architecture and history of the monastery ruins. Each place we visit will be brought to life with stories about the colourful, fascinating history which made the city what it is.

Start: Saturday, 14:30, Bärenzwinger, Im Köllnischen Park, 10179 Berlin

End: Around 17:00, aquabit, Auguststraße 35, 10119 Berlin

More architecture and art events

Make City“ is Berlin’s first Festival for Architecture and Urban Alternatives, bringing together architects, planners, civic groups and developers in a citywide conversation on thinking and making city differently. The theme of 2018 is „BERLIN NEW GEMISCHT“ (Berlin newly mixed). During the nine days oft he festival you will experience events, talks, workshops on Make City at the Czech Center in Berlin Mitte. Also you can visit exhibitions and happenings in cultural centers and special locations throughout Berlin.

I also highly recommend to check out „Tag der Architektur Berlin“ (day of architecture in Berlin) from the 23rd until the 24th of June. During this weekend a lot of architecture offices are showing visitors new architecture projects in Berlin, which are normally not accessible for everyone.
