Top 5 restaurants in Schöneberg

You are in Berlin Schöneberg for the first time ever. You have got an appetite for everything. Where do you start? That’s a question I get asked a lot, and it’s a hard one to answer. But I will try so that you don’t return home having only sampled your finest curry wurst from some touristic bistro at Checkpoint Charlie in Berlin. So here it goes: My Top 5 restaurants in Schöneberg.

Vegetarian restaurant in Prenzlauer Berg

Bonvivant

Bonvivant is a cocktail bistro. Even the tiled corner house is a real eye-catcher. The restaurant is divided into two areas, in front you find a bar with light colors and green marble tables and in the back the restaurant with dark green walls and cosy wooden furniture. Besides the stylish design you will be surprised by the colorful plates with the vegetarian dishes, created by Ottmar Pohl-Hoffbauer and Kristof Mulack. Through a window to the kitchen, you can watch them work their magic. Here you will find veggie dishes that are anything but boring. Local and seasonal products are used to create surprising and exciting dishes. An imaginary pool party in the chic Beverly Hills served as inspiration for the bar menu and drinks. Playful, a bit decadent and fruity. I can only recommend that the Bonvivant is so beautifully.

Dreaming of spicy Korean food

Ixthys

At this small deli you will be eating Korean Bibimbap in a room wallpapered with hand-written Bible quotes from floor to ceiling. Ixthys is actually the Greek word for fish, a Christian symbol. The very small kitchen is run by two Korean women preparing traditional Korean dishes like Bibimbap and Bulgogi in home-made style. The food is plenty and fresh and very spicy – certainly recommendable for when you’re in Schöneberg and want a quick bite.

Pallasstraße 21, 10781 Berlin (Schöneberg), Station: U2 Nollendorfplatz Mon–Sat 12:00–21:30

French restaurant in Schöneberg

La Cocotte

At La Cocotte you feel like in Paris. It is a beautiful French restaurant in Schöneberg. Sitting outside under trees and two marquise you can drink a Provencal Spritz and enjoy lovely French menus which change every month. I ordered a flan de broccoli, soup provancale (accompanying my Spritz ;), Entrecote Grillee and as dessert Tarte au Citron.
