Hallmann & Klee in Berlin (Neukölln)

Hallmann & Klee

This café is always packed. That could be because of the good cheese, the pretty dishes and its beautiful (very interesting) visitors? For breakfast they serve plates, pancakes (which I highly recommend) or avocado and poached eggs. The owners, Sarah and Frizzi, are in the kitchen themselves (it's an open kitchen so you can see) and prepare everything with love. If you can't make it for breakfast, the lunch menu is also very charming. And coffee and sweet treats are available all day. Just the way you like it.

Böhmische Straße 13, 12055 Berlin (Neukölln), www.hallmann-klee.de, Wed–Sat from 9:30, Sun 9:30–18:00

Café in Berlin Rixdorf

YaMe NumNums

YaMe NumNum serves breakfast classics with a difference. All dishes have an Asian touch and are reinterpreted by them. On weekends there are changing specials. What makes the concept special is the Asian influence on the dishes. Their French toast (also called poor knight) is served with house fermented kimchi and a homemade ginger syrup, plus a fried egg. The name YaMe, by the way, comes from Linh's children YAkup and MElih.

Flughafenstraße 46, 12053 Berlin (Neukölln), Station: U7 Rathaus Neukölln, Fr–Sun 9:00–17:00

Cafés with delicious cakes

Cafe Katies Blue Cat

Not only is the coffee prepared with care, the café opens super early at 8:30. But as I said, its not only the coffee. The baked goods like cookies, pies and crumpets are amazing. The specialty of the café is the ANZAC biscuits.

Friedelstraße 31, 12047 Berlin (Neukölln), www.katiesbluecat.de, Station: U8 Schönleinstraße, Mon–Fr 8:30–18:30, Sat–Sun 10:00–19:00

Nothaft Café at Sonnenallee

Geschwister Nothaft Cafe

They have the best coffee around S-Bahn Sonnenallee. Every day I walk in, I'm greeted with a smile from one of the amazing baristas. If you are hungry order the grilled sandwiches with goat cheese, salami, turkey or cheese and pesto. There are also homemade cakes, including vegan ones.

Schwarzastraße 9, 12055 Berlin (Neukölln), Station: S41, S42 Sonnenallee, Mon–Fr 7:00–19:00, Sat–Sun 9:00–19:00
