Top 5 workshops in Berlin IX

I am constantly scouting for new awesome locations in Berlin all of the time as I usually have a lot of coffee dates. I'm not complaining, I love it! But sometimes, I like to try out something new. Berlin offers many do-it-yourself workshops which I find really refreshing. From painting and making kombucha and bullet journal workshops: I've tried them all! I would definitely highly recommend workshops even for a unique birthday party or as a gift. To put it in a nutshell, here are my Top 5 workshops in Berlin!

Sketching workshop in Berlin

Sketching Workshop

Recently I was at an urban sketching workshop with Kristin. The workshop took place in the Luisengarten. Urban Sketches means drawing "on the road" in the city. Her drawings are a kind of visual journalism that shows life as you or the artist sees it happening before her eyes. In the workshop Kristin helps you to choose the motif, explains different techniques with pencil and watercolours and all urban sketching tricks.

Fabric design workshop in Berlin

Fabric design Workshop

This fabric design workshop enables you to understand how pattern repeats work and to put this knowledge directly into practice. Hanna will guide you through the process of designing your own repeating motif using materials provided. Hanna is an English/Finnish textile designer and part of the Neukölln female design collective; Studio Hertzberg. In her workshop you will also receive plenty of visual references in order to stimulate your creativity. It is up to you if you like to paint by hand or digitally ;). At the end of the workshop, you will be provided with a code for a local textile printer where you can print your wonderful creations for free. Then, you can sew it into a cushion or the product of your choice.

Tofu workshop in Berlin Mitte

Huadou Berlin

The Huadou concept store welcomes you to stone mills that transform soybeans into soy milk in the classic way. Right next to them are small bamboo boxes in which delicious tofu is pressed during the workshop. You can take the practical kitchen utensils straight home with you and start your own soy production. Mengya and Sibo show you how to make silky soft soy milk from beans, which you can enjoy with hot coffee or iced Matcha latte. The soy ice cream was also very, very tasty. In the soy workshop they will also show you how to make miso soup out of soy. Whether tofu, sauce or milk - Huadou only offers traditionally produced soy products that are incredibly delicious and make you want more.

Wrapping workshop in Berlin

Palais Populaire

PalaisPopulaire can offer you guided tours with max. 5 people, including Free Tours, Lunch+ and Art+Drinks. Besides the tours through the art museum, you can attend to several workshops. I visited the SundayPopulaire Drawing workshop, which is combined with a guided tour through the current exhibition.

More than 50 years ago Christo began to wrap and tie up everyday objects with normal paper, foil, or fabric. Some of the objects were viewed on the tour of the exhibition. We also discussed, what’s under the covering? Why he wrap it up; to preserve or hide the object? Afterwards, we packed or tied up an object with two artists, which we could bring from home or that is provided for you. I love workshops inwhich you learn about history, but also are enabled to create something with your hands - if you want to try something new - you might like it too ;).

Flower Wallhanging Workshop in Berlin

Workshop - Flower Wallhanging Dried

I love dried flowers and wreaths. Linda and Nadine love it too and like to share the art of flower arranging with me/you. With a lot of fun and a little bit of craftsmanship we created beautiful wallhandgings. During the floral wreath workshop you can try different materials - dried flowers, fir trees, grasses and a little hot glue are used. They will teach you the basics of flower arranging in a relaxed atmosphere with drinks, snacks and music. You will do handicrafts together with other flower enthusiasts and at the end of the workshop you can take your self-bound flower wreath home. As they are very patient you don't have to be to talented, they will (as they did with me) help you designing a beautiful flower ring to take home, I promise.
